Plain-English definitions for the terminology used across Pitch Notes.
- Accumulator
- A single bet that links two or more selections; all must win for the bet to pay out.
- Asian Handicap
- A handicap applied to each team to eliminate the draw, giving an advantage or disadvantage that the bettor must consider.
- Bankroll
- The total amount of money you have set aside for betting activities.
- Booking Points
- A bet based on the number of yellow and red cards shown, with points assigned per card.
- Both Teams To Score (BTTS)
- A market where you bet on whether both sides will score at least one goal during the match.
- Clean Sheet
- A market betting on whether a team will finish the match without conceding a goal.
- Corner Match Bet
- A wager on which team will earn more corners during the match.
- Correct Score
- A bet on the exact final score of a match, such as 2‑1 or 3‑0.
- Cover
- When a team beats the point spread set by the bookmaker, the bet is said to cover.
- Double Chance
- A bet that covers two of the three possible outcomes in a match, increasing your chances of winning.
- Draw No Bet
- A wager on a team to win; if the match ends in a draw your stake is refunded.
- Each Way
- A two‑part bet that backs a selection to win and also to finish in a predetermined place, common in outright markets.
- Edge
- The perceived statistical advantage you believe you have over the bookmaker’s odds.
- Half‑Time/Full‑Time
- A bet that predicts both the result at half‑time and the final result of the match.
- In‑Play (Live Betting)
- Betting on a match while it is in progress, with odds that change as the game unfolds.
- Moneyline
- A straightforward bet on which team will win the match, with no point spread involved.
- Outright Bet
- A bet on the overall winner of a tournament, league, or season rather than a single match.
- Over/Under
- A bet on whether the total number of goals (or another stat) will be above or below a set line.
- Push
- A result where the bet is refunded because the outcome matches the line exactly, such as a total of 2.5 goals.
- Spread
- The handicap given to a team to level the playing field, used in Asian Handicap and similar markets.
- Stake
- The amount of money you risk on a single bet.
- Value Bet
- A wager where the odds offered are higher than the true probability of the outcome, giving you an expected advantage.
- Void
- A cancelled bet where the stake is returned, usually because a match was postponed or a rule was violated.
- Wagering Requirement
- A condition that you must bet a multiple of a bonus amount before you can withdraw any winnings from that bonus.
